Vaccine supplies at UNC Health are very limited. The UNC Friday Center began Phase 1b distribution to adults 75 years and older in January 2021.

Adults 75 years and older began to get vaccinated UNC Health facilities on January 12, 2021.

“The process today was joyful,” said Margaret Ferrara, who is 75. “When I heard about the vaccine I was comforted and delighted.”

While distribution is still progressing, Elizabeth Ramsey, Director of Business Operations, says the UNC Friday Center expects to eventually be able to give out 1,500 vaccines per day.

I think the sooner we get this behind us, the better we’ll be,” said Elmer G. Hughes.

A World War II veteran, Hughes in 99 years old. “The only way I know to get it behind us is for everybody eventually be vaccinated and be free of it.
