The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for ages 12 to 15 under an emergency use authorization (EUA).

UNC Health will offer the Pfizer vaccine to those ages 12 and older at locations where the Pfizer vaccine is available. Not all UNC Health vaccination locations have the Pfizer vaccine. You can schedule your appointment online or by calling (984) 215-5485. We are available to answer calls Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend these appointments with adolescent patients.

The Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine authorized for those who are under the age of 18. Here’s what parents and guardians need to know about the vaccine for this age group.
